Introducing the Layher Allround AGS Façade System
Spotlight on Layher Ltd, winner of the 2021 NASC Awards Innovation of the Year category, sponsored by PERI Ltd.
What is the Layher Allround AGS Façade System and what makes it truly innovative?
Layher Ltd: The aim of this product development was to simplify and enhance façade scaffold installation, with the focus on the key benefits of safety, speed and versatility.
The AGS system comprises of 2m standard[s], with integrated innovative quick-release loading levers, in which the specifically developed guardrails slot into and are retained against falling out by mans of a special milled slot.
Importantly, these levers are coloured red so as to enable a rapid visual check of an entire structure to be made from ground level. The 2m standard is also equipped with a rosette at 1m high, so as when combined with standard Layher Allround it facilitates the fitment of transoms at deck level and in doing so integrates seamlessly with the rest of the standard Allround scaffolding.
The Layher Allround AGS system uses lightweight materials, which not only aid the manual handling process but also, because of its dimensions, help to optimise transportation and storage – once installed, extensions can be readily added, regardless of the existing structure’s layout.
A key benefit is the interchangeability of minimal specific components, whilst maintaining customers pre-existing investments in existing product.
What is the main benefit of the product?
Layher: The Layher Allround AGS enhances the system’s independence and enables the user to react flexibly to requirements that may arise on site – for example, all other Layher Allround components, for example hop-up brackets, stairs, loading bays and much more can become part of an AGS installation, integrating seamlessly.
The Layher Allround AGS system uses the latest developments in lightweight steel materials, which aid and protect the scaffolders continual exposure to repetitive manual handling processes, as well, because of its reduced dimensions and weight, also help to optimise transportation and storage – once installed, extensions can be readily added, regardless of the existing structure’s layout.
Continuous equipment innovation and improvements are vital to Layher – much of which has been inspired by customer feedback, also a vital contributing factor towards the success of any new product development – the strategic partnership is important to us as we design/manufacture only and do not erect, we leave that to our customers and their practical skills and buildability feedback to then improve initial prototypes.
Why should this product by used over an alternative?
Layher: The product is unique in that it brings together several years’ worth of advancing guardrail methodology / research / development and trials of all that has been available on the market – then integrating this into the Layher Allround system so as to be able to provide users with a product that is 33% lighter and 25% more economical to purchase, with the required user flexibility, maximum safety and reliability.
