NASC supports Premier Access Scaffolding at Lincolnshire Construction and Engineering Week

Last month, Phil Goddard and Rebekah Jardine joined forces with Daryll Sleight from Premier Access Scaffolding to represent Scaffolding Careers at the Lincolnshire Construction and Engineering Week 2025. The team arrived in style in NASC’s Buzz Van, packed full of interactive resources designed to spark curiosity and showcase the exciting opportunities within the scaffolding industry.

Students attending the event were given the chance to immerse themselves in the world of scaffolding through hands-on activities including using NASC’s VR headsets, through which they tested their skills on our hazard perception simulation, helping them understand the importance of safety on-site. They also got to play with our K’Nex kits, allowing the students to get creative building models of cantilever scaffolds, gaining a practical sense of design and structure. Both resources form part of NASC’s Talent Pack, which is available to all NASC members to help them engage with schools, colleges and young people.

Adding a personal touch to the day, Andy and Luke shared stories from their own careers in scaffolding, giving students a first-hand look at what working in the industry is like. Their insights and enthusiasm helped to paint a picture of scaffolding not just as a job, but as a rewarding and dynamic career path.

As Andy explained, “Hopefully, we can help inspire these youngsters to maybe play a part in this fantastic industry in the future.”

Why outreach matters

Events like Lincolnshire Construction and Engineering Week are vital in tackling the skills shortage faced by the construction industry. With an ageing workforce and increasing demand for skilled operatives, it has never been more important to introduce young people to the opportunities available in scaffolding and access. Early engagement helps challenge outdated perceptions, highlights the technical skills involved and shows that scaffolding offers clear pathways to progression, stability and success.
