Falls will always be one of the biggest risks in scaffolding operations, which is why this session puts SG4 front and centre.
The session will include a live build of a system scaffolding tower demonstrating practical erection techniques and will explore some of the real-world challenges scaffolders face when applying SG4 guidance on site.

Alan Harris began his career in the scaffolding industry as a trainee at SGB Southampton at 18 years old and after completing his training, advanced to their Formwork and Falsework Division. His career expanded internationally during 6.5 years in the Middle East, where he led SGB's Special Projects Division in Dubai, managing complex infrastructure including high-rise buildings above 25 storeys, tunnels and bridges with project values up to $11 million. Returning to the UK, he oversaw SGB's seven-branch operations from South London focusing on hire and sales services.
In 1996, Alan founded Pro-Fix Access Ltd in Hampshire, building the specialist scaffolding company into a trusted provider of bespoke temporary and shoring solutions. Under his leadership, Pro-Fix has successfully partnered with clients ranging from small enterprises to Tier 1 contractors and Ministry of Defence special operations. The company became an NASC member in 2009 and remains one of the smallest NASC member companies in the UK. Pro-Fix Access Ltd will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026, marking three decades of excellence in specialised scaffolding solutions.
