NASC Director of Training attends PASMA Symposium in Dubai

Whilst in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrying out audits last week, National Access and Scaffolding Confederation, Director of Training Dave Mosley took the opportunity to attend the highly anticipated PASMA Middle East Symposium Event at the Metropolitan Hotel in Dubai.

The half-day event was aimed at local contractors, regulators, clients, training providers and safety practitioners who are responsible for the safety of operatives using mobile access towers and working at height.

NASC Director of Training Dave Mosley said. “ I would like to thank Peter Bennet and Sarah Nunn of PASMA for inviting me to the event, which was well attended and very informative. It provided some great networking opportunities to promote NASC guidance, standards, and international membership to some very important players in the GCC region. It was also great to see 3 CISRS Overseas Scaffolding Training Scheme providers exhibiting at the event.”

Following an opening address by PASMA’s regional Representative Atif Uzzaman and Managing Director Peter Bennett OBE, keynote speakers included Humaid Al Bulushi GM HSE and Standardisation – OPAL  (Oman Energy Association), Ian Fyall – Simian International/Chair of the Safety at Height Panel, Lineesh Nadakkudi, Vice Chairman of the Safety at Height Panel and Lamis Al Kaisi of LM Management consultancy. They covered a range of topics including competency and standardisation, the development of PASMA overseas, the importance of training in the workplace and the value such training adds to organisations.

The event also included sessions on “TowerSure” the Tower inspection management app and a rescue planning workshop.

The NASC values its relationship with PASMA and hopes to collaborate further with them and other Access Industry Forum (AIF) members in similar future events, promoting UK standards for work at height safety and competence to the international access industry.
