Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee and manage the financial administration of all companies within the NASC family. This is an exciting time to be joining NASC.  We are on a rapid growth journey that is likely to see us double in size over the next 5 years as we provide leadership and support to an increasingly global sector.   Our new Finance Manager will take a lead role in enhancing financial systems, processes, and controls, working closely with the Head of Finance & Operations (HFO) to drive financial and operational improvements including our digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

Day-to-Day Finance Management

  • Oversee and manage the accounting system, including the purchase order system.
  • Lead a team of two Finance Executives, ensuring smooth and accurate processing of daily financial transactions.
  • Assist with membership subscription collection and ensure all income is invoiced and collected promptly.
  • Process and review payment batches, submit for authorisation, and set up payments.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership to your team, including regular appraisals and performance management.

Monthly Management Reporting

  • Prepare and submit monthly management accounts to the HFO and CEO, ensuring timely delivery and detailed variance analysis.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and liaise with budget holders to manage costs and forecast future budgets.
  • Contribute to the creation of the annual operational plan and support budgetary control. 

Financial Systems and Controls

  • Ensure that financial systems operate with best practices and within established controls.
  • Review and improve financial systems and processes, ensuring they align with the digital transformation goals.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations, monitor cash flow, and manage debtor follow-ups.
  • Support the Head of Finance & Operations in maximising investment income and ensuring robust financial controls. 

Annual Statutory Accounts

  • Prepare information for external accountants, liaising with accountants to ensure statutory accounts and corporation tax returns are filed on time. 

General Support

  • Provide financial support to other teams and departments as required.
  • Assist with other finance-related tasks as needed to support the organisation’s overall goals.

Key Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential:

  • Qualified Accountant (ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA) with a professional approach to finance management.
  • Strong experience with MS Excel and other MS365 applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Sage and Woosage financial systems.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry or experience within a trade association environment.
  • Familiarity with the financial intricacies of trade organisations and membership-based models.
