When in use, scaffold boards are often subjected to harsh conditions and mistreatment and may deteriorate to such an extent that they become unsafe. Many free-standing scaffolding structures, such as access towers, major signboards, fences and enclosures, need to be anchored to the ground, primarily to resist wind forces.
