NASC to Launch the Common Assessment Standard at ScaffEx24

National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) is proud to announce that they will be setting out their plans to adopt the Common Assessment Standard at ScaffEx24. This new initiative will significantly reduce the burden of subscriptions to multiple certifications, streamlining the prequalification process for NASC members.

Currently, when tendering for larger scaffolding contracts, scaffolding and access contractors are required to complete a selection of prequalification questionnaires.. With the adoption of the Common Assessment Standard, NASC members will be able to meet all their Common Assessment Standard obligations through a single, streamlined process via the NASC audit. NASC members who currently hold the Common Assessment Standard, will be required to answer no additional questions to those being asked and will only need to complete the NASC audit process with the additional question set from the NASC technical audit.

NASC has recently achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 which is a significant step towards meeting the criteria of being a Recognised Assessment Body, and will be formally applying to become a Recognised Assessment Body soon. This will mean that NASC members will be able to rely on NASC to certify them against the Common Assessment Standard.. This new approach will not only simplify the prequalification process but also reduce costs for NASC members, saving time and resources while ensuring compliance with all necessary requirements.

The Common Assessment Standard, developed by Build UK and endorsed by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), is specified for use by central Government departments and wider public sector when pre-qualifying suppliers for construction works contracts, replacing the now withdrawn PAS 91. . By adopting the Common Assessment Standard, NASC members will be fully equipped to meet the industry’s latest prequalification standards without the need to hold multiple certifications.

NASC will set out its plans for the Common Assessment Standard at ScaffEx24, where NASC members and industry professionals will have the opportunity to learn more about how this new system will enhance efficiency and reduce the administrative burden for scaffolding contractors across the UK.
