CISRS launches new Train the Trainer programme at ScaffEx26

CISRS will launch a new Train the Trainer programme at ScaffEx26 in Manchester tomorrow, creating a formal route from site into the classroom and opening up a new career option for experienced scaffolders.

The four-week programme is designed to support experienced scaffolders to become confident trainers of the CISRS scheme, with the aim of bringing more high-quality trainers into the industry.

It will be delivered by CISRS appointed instructors, recruited through a rigorous process, and focuses on both understanding the scheme and delivering engaging training sessions. Assessment is highly practical, with candidates primarily assessed on their delivery, supported by formal assessment criteria.

Support does not end when the programme does. Trainers who complete it will receive mentorship from their instructor, delivery observations with structured feedback, opportunities for peer support, regular CPD and immediate access to updated CISRS materials.

Rob Boardman, Head of Training and Education, said: "There is broad agreement across the industry that we need more trainers, and that the route into training should be clearer than it has been. What we have not had until now is a defined path from site to the classroom with proper outcomes attached to it.

"This programme will build confidence and delivery skills alongside technical understanding, so people finish it ready to stand in front of a group. We have taken our time, making changes off the back of feedback we have received, and we will continue to engage before, during and after the forthcoming pilot to ensure the highest quality programme for our industry.

A pilot will run in the UK during the second half of 2026 to test the material and refine it where needed, with oversight from the CISRS Quality Assurance Committee.
