Looking for the right guidance? Just ask.

There has been a lot of new guidance this autumn. EG5:26 on social value in public procurement, the information bulletin on gambling harms at work, changes to the Common Assessment Standard, and more besides.

Which makes this a good moment to remind members and CISRS Centres that there is now a much faster way to find what applies to you.

Ask a question, get the guidance

Our AI assistant lets you search the combined NASC and CISRS knowledge base by simply asking a question in your own words. No need to know which document holds the answer, or to read through it to find the relevant section.

It covers technical guidance, health and safety, standards, training, competence and the day to day business issues that come up on site and in the office. Ask it what SG4 says about a particular situation, or what the ladder requirements are in SG25, and it will explain what the guidance says and point you to the source document.

Importantly, it draws only on NASC and CISRS resources, including member and centre only material that is not publicly available. It is not searching the whole internet.

Where to find it

Click the round icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. It is red on the NASC website and orange on the CISRS website.

Mark Collinson, Head of Technical at NASC, commented:

"The guidance has always existed, he says, but finding the right part of it has not always been easy, particularly for smaller businesses without a dedicated technical resource. The assistant gives members a quicker route to the right information, and always points back to the source document.

It is not, he says, a replacement for reading the guidance properly. But it makes finding the relevant section far easier".

What members say

Kyle Whittle of KW Scaffolding Ltd, NASC North West Vice Chair, has been using it since it's launch.

“It’s brilliant for supervisors and scaffolders out on site. They can get a proper answer there and then and make an informed decision.

“The guidance has always been there but knowing which document to look at off the top of your head is sometimes the hard part, especially if you haven’t got someone whose job it is to know on hand. Now I can just ask the question and it takes you to the right section straight away. It’s saved me a fair bit of time.”

Available now to NASC members and CISRS Centres.
