About NASC and CISRS:

National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) is a leading professional trade association dedicated to advancing safety, technical excellence, and best practices within the access and scaffolding industry. The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) is the recognised competence scheme for the scaffolding industry, setting and maintaining the training and assessment standards for scaffolders. CISRS is owned by, and works closely with, NASC alongside the wider industry to ensure training remains current, technically accurate, and consistent across every approved centre.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery

  • Deliver the full Train the Trainer programme in line with CISRS guidance.
  • Maintain a consistent teaching standard across every cohort, adapting delivery to different learner profiles where required.

Assessment and Quality Assurance

  • Assess participants against formal criteria.
  • Maintain accurate observation records, portfolios, and assessment documentation
  • Confirm successful completion for successful candidates and reassessment routes for any participant who has not yet met the full standard.
  • Manage the issuing of Trainer cards across the CISRS Trainer network.

Ongoing Quality Assurance

  • Standardise judgement with other Instructors and contribute to consistency across centres.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship to qualified trainers, including observations and suggested CPD.
  • Be the primary central point of contact for our Trainer network in regard to training delivery

Training & Education

  • Contribute to the ongoing development, and refreshing of, CISRS programmes and materials.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the wider team.
  • Champion the CISRS brand and its place in the industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • At least 10 years’ as an approved CISRS Trainer.
  • 20 years as an advanced scaffolder.
  • Demonstrated ability to make assessment decisions under pressure, and to communicate decisions clearly and constructively.
  • Strong working knowledge of NASC guidance.
  • Demonstrable ability to support and mentor individuals working in the training and education space.
  • Forward thinking with the ability to consider how we consistently modernise our approach to delivery.
  • Comfortable managing a live physical training environment safely.
  • Confident giving direct, specific feedback to learners.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Consistent pass and refer decisions.
  • Positive feedback from delegates on the programme.
  • Evidence of consistent ongoing mentoring of trainers.
  • Completion of assigned work/projects on time and to a high standard.
