February issue of Scaffolding Insider out now
The latest issue of Scaffolding Insider is out now and available to download from here. This month we have a heavy focus on skills and the challenges so many firms are facing as they try to plan for workforce growth, while struggling to recruit the talent they need to fill existing roles.
In December last year, NASC sought the views of all full members, through an independent research agency. The results of that survey have now been collated and analysed and it offers hard evidence of what many have known from anecdotal evidence, that there is a genuine issue finding trained and experienced staff, especially at scaffolder and advanced scaffolder or supervisor levels.
These roles are the heart and soul of most scaffolding workforces and yet they are the ones that are proving harder to fill. NASC's Skills Gap Report paints the picture in great detail and offers some thoughts from members on what to do to make things better.
Scaffolding Insider has had a preview of the full report, which will be released next week, and have the inside story in our cover feature.
Elsewhere in this issue, we profile Lee Rowswell, Group Director at GKR Scaffolding, looking back at his extraordinary career in scaffolding to date. There is also a comment piece on effective crisis management from Luis McCarthy, Managing Director, JMAC.
Paul Napper, NASC Head of Training and Education, reports on two major and transformational updates at CISRS and there is a reminder about the recent launch by the recognised voice of the international trade, IASA, of a new International Scaffodling and Access Day. If you haven't already, mark May 14th in your diary.
