October issue of Scaffolding Insider out now

The October issue of Scaffolding Insider is out now and available to read here.

This month’s cover feature, Supporting History, looks at the particular challenge of scaffolding heritage structures, where the building you are working on is often the reason for the job in the first place. Three projects are covered: Lee Marley Group at the Oval Gas Holder, Zenith S.A.S. at Glasgow Cathedral, and SRT Scaffolding Services at St John’s in Harleston.

Also in the issue, Managing the Diesel Crisis asks what happens next with fuel costs, with Group CEO Clive Dickin on what record prices mean for firms that live and die by their transport.

Our Budget 2026 news feature sets out where the sector landed. There is some breathing space on fuel duty, but the cost pressures have not gone away, and Clive explains why the relief is narrower than the headlines suggest.

In Industry View, Joanne Walker, Scaffolding Manager at CWIC Academy, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, writes on attracting young people into the industry and what the sector needs to do differently.

In NASC news, Head of Technical Mark Collinson covers what the CBAM survey means for supplier costs, and the Common Assessment Standard changes that bring long overdue clarity for scaffolding contractors. There is also a look at our new guidance on gambling at work, and a Top Five on slips and trips drawn from SG31.

The industry news round-up takes in the HSE’s campaign on noise and vibration, a £56,000 Ministry of Justice prison training contract, Glenigan’s latest construction review, a police spotlight on unsecured scaffolding equipment, and the Chartered Institute of Housing’s warning on the housing target.

Our training and education pages round things off with the new careers videos putting scaffolding in the spotlight, an invitation to get involved in the Ministry of Justice Future Skills Programme, and three new NASC guidance notes, EG2:26, EG3:26 and EG4:26.

We hope you enjoy the read!
