In this issue we lead with the findings from NASC's recently issued 2026 Safety Report, which is based on RIDDOR data from 2025. The report offers an analysis of RIDDOR data supplied by all NASC contractor members. The findings make for comforting reading, in that while any accident is one too many, it is good to read there were no fatalities in 2025 among NASC members. And to see that the rate of accidents continues to remain at historically low levels, even as membership grew to a record high, with the number of operatives working for member firms therefore also reaching a new high. One statistic that leaps out is that there was 1 RIDDOR per 470,000 work hours last year.

Elsewhere im this issue, we look at the latest developments in TG30. TG30 is the software and compliance software suite for system scaffolding that has been built to offer those working with system scaffolding the same compliance sheet support that TG20 offers to those using tube and fit. If you work with system scaffolding, TG30 will work for you. The latest enhancement to TG30 breaks new ground, with features such as independent birdcage scaffolds that previously demanded bespoke designs, and that are often not even covered in manufacturers' user manuals. As Mark Collinson, NASC Head of Technical explains, "This update will make a genuine difference to scaffolding contractors working with system scaffolding. Many of these birdcage configurations were not previously covered anywhere, which meant bespoke design was the only option. Having them available as TG30-compliant solutions removes that burden, saves time and cost, and ensures contractors can proceed with confidence that they are working to the recognised industry standard."

As part of our ongoing series of profiles with industry leaders, we take a look at the ever-impressive industry stalwart George Roberts, following his story from small regional depot to being the UK's largest independent scaffolding supplier. And there is news on the NASC Work Experience Pledge, more industry insights from the NFB's Rico Wojtulewicz and a return of Steve Kearney's Top Five, in which he offers key highlights from a piece of NASC guidance; this month he looks at the key thongs to take away from PG8: Purchasing Guidelines for Ancillary Scaffolding Components.
